A novel "Amitav Ghosh"

"Shadow Lines" is the novel written by one of the known India and celebrated author Mr. Amitav Ghosh. This novel is "Sahitya Akademi Award winner which is very prestigious award in Indian literature. And this recognition by Sahitya Akademy led me to read the book.

This book is published as new in 1988. Amitav Ghosh has really distinctive style of writing. His novel no big glamor, romance, heroism or the theater like everyone else. But it is more intense, sensitive, and moving closer to human emotions. The book is about a boy and his world is through the eyes and imagination. It is his uncle, who teaches him to travel the world through his imagination. This is of her grandmother and her struggle for life after the death of the husband to raise her child without anyone help. It's about the boy cousin Ila, his love interest which invariably the brakes on his heart. And that is about many people. But most important is based on the context of the riots in Calcutta and after the partition of Dhaka in the years 60, and in London in the 60s and in wartime 1939 in London.

The author succeeds in forming the book as a memory network of a person begins to describe an item that took him to various situations. His interpretation is not the time or place bound, is still moving in the past and the present or Calcutta, to London or Dhaka. It is like solving a puzzle, which is organizing the pieces one by one and after some time returns to the point where it started, and reorganize and start other side of it. It is the relationship, history, myths, politics, humor and many things.

Shadow Line As the name suggests that the author builds story is based around the story line drawn from the peoples and nations. Which has been designated by some unfortunate circumstances or by another person or the character of the novel is drawn, but could not clean and could not get used to it. So there is always the turmoil in the nation or the individual's relationship.

Simply put, the book is remarkable and brilliant. Every sensible man would move. If I have to rate the book that will give 10 of 10. The book is the first collection personal one.
