Why do whites get the label of "Bi-polar" and black people get a "schizophrenic"?

Clearly there racism in the mental health system. My research has found that doctors rarely diagnose a black with 'bi-polar' disorder. In the rare cases in which this occurs, the individual is often very rich and famous. Moreover, any white person with the label will modd disorders of bi-polar that is considered most respectable that schizophrenia (which is reserved mainly for black people). mental health system is a joke - a racist joke.

A lot of people here is saying they are entirely different conditions. This is not necessarily true. Certainly there are many people who clearly fit into one or the other category, but there are also people for whom the diagnosis is less clear. Symptoms may be similar: episodes of uncontrolled / unusual / unpredictable behavior, hearing voices, the aggression, delusions are few. Many people with bipolar disorder say they return to their usual level of functioning between episodes of illness, but it may still be true for people with schizophrenia. In many cases, anti-psychotic medications (ie, used to manage schizophrenia) is used to manage bipolar disorder, particularly when the person is seriously ill. Sometimes when people have been sick for a long time either bi-polar disease or schizophrenic end with a diagnosis of schizo-affective disorder. So there's a confusion.
