
It is no secret that 2006 was a great year for trout fishing. And we have some new records to prove it!
Thirteen states posted new records trout in 2006, one of which is still awaiting a new World Junior Record fisherman. And British Columbia has two pending records for rainbow trout caught with fly rods.
The first state to record a new trout record is Alabama. A rainbow trout 9 pounds-1 Oz was caught by Otha G. Hamm in Mudd Tannehill Creek State Park on 22 April 2006. This broke the record of 7 pounds, 4 oz, set in 2004.
Arizona also recorded two new records rainbow trout and Apache trout a new record. Arizona is one state that separates the trout records into different categories. The new indoor water (Hook & Line) record rainbow trout was created in September 2006 by Harold Wright. Harold reeled in a 32.5-inch rainbow trout weighing 15 pounds-9.12 oz) of Willow Springs Lake.
Arizona also recorded a new record for rainbow trout in the "catch and release 'category. The registry was established in March 2006 by Jeff Senn as he staggered into a 22.5 inch rainbow trout from Silver Creek.
A 20-inch Apache trout was taken out of Christmas trees Frieh Cameron Lake in July 2006, setting a new record. This fish was also released back into the water.
In January 2006, James Harold Cohasset placed in a hatchery rainbow trout £ 28.33 measure 33.5 inches long in California. This set a new state record for hatchery rainbow trout.
Connecticut record state in rainbow trout is still pending. The fish was caught by Billy Lutgen in July 2006 and weighed 7 pounds 8 oz. He staggered Norwalk River.
Colorado also has two new records in hopes of rainbow trout. Both records were caught by David Pesi in August 2006 and were removed from Big Thompson River in the Rocky Mountains. The first trout weighed 1 lbs-3 oz, and the second weighing 1 pounds Oz-5 second was also caught trout with a fly rod.
Idaho has a new record splak trout, recorded in May 2006. It weighed 10 pounds-12.48 oz, measuring 28.5 inches long. Brian Allison caught in Ririe Reservoir using a Frenzy Deep River Lure.
New York has a new Brook trout record thanks to Jesse Yousey. In May 2006, Jesse used a lake open to Attract wobler reel in 4 lbs-15 oz of Brook Trout five ponds wilderness.
North Carolina recorded a new record for rainbow trout 20 lbs-3 oz caught in Horsepasture River by Leah Johnson. Leah using a Rapala lure.
New Vermont rainbow trout record was set by Harry Hunt in March 2006 when he reeled in 13 pounds, 12 oz lake trout Dunmore.
Virginia had a new world record for Spotted Seatrout (Spotted trout) in January 2006. The trout, weighing 12 pounds-1 Oz was caught by Barclay Shepard Money Point.
Wisconsin inland water record for rainbow trout was established in June 2006 by Will Lusthoff when placed in a 12 lbs, 3 oz trout Elbow Lake. Wills trout measured 29.5 cm in length.
And last but not least, Wyoming also has a new Tiger trout record, from July 2006. Greg Salisbury Tiger trout weighed 1 pounds and 10 oz-measured 16.5 cm in length.
The International Game & Fish Association (IGFA) also has 3 NEW WORLD TROUT RECORDS PENDING!
The first record of the world is waiting for a brown trout caught by fishermen young Christopher Miller in October 2006. His trout weighed 14 pounds, 9 oz and staggered from Dry Run Creek in Arkansas.
The next two pending world records in category Fly Rod and trout bull. Both were captured in August 2006 Wigwam River in British Columbia, Canada. The first Bull trout was 10 lbs-8 oz (caught by Josh Splinter) and the second was 18 pounds 8 oz (captured by A. Matthew Eggert). Tippet sizes were different
